If Brian Dudley of the Seattle Times is to be believed (he seems like a nice enough fellow), Microsoft is not only poised to release an Xboy this Christmas, but will have it interacting with Xgirl, Xuncle and Xred-headedstep-child, the latter of which will probably prove a formidable challenge to market.

I don't understand these all in one systems. I rather have one thing that does that one thing really well, not something that does one thing well and the other things crappy. When the battery dies in my iPod, I go to my DS, and when the battery dies in that I can watch a DVD on a laptop or portable DVD player.

It's certainly going to be an interesting holiday season. I love my iPod and Nano, but after switching to a Mac recently and having my music collection spread out over 3 different computers and absolutely crippled by iTunes' DRM, I'm looking forward to a different option. At the very least, this will be a big enough competitor to get them in gear and really innovate.

          Here are the facts:

Steve Jobs (and iPods & other Apple stuff) – cool

BIll Gates (and Microstuff) - uncool.

Nothing Billy Boy can ever do will make him or Microsoft cool.
