Nov. 28, 2006, 7:22 p.m.You know something, with all these damn politicians complaining that violent video games make people want to kill each other and do other things like steal and rape people. Why don't we just have a gun shaped controller for every game console. Damn politicians don't want anyone to have any fun and will stop at nothing to put the blame on media for entertainment rather than the true reason..... stupid lazy ass parenting now a days!

Nov. 28, 2006, 11:21 p.m.It's no big surprise that violence shuts off certain areas of the brain associated with control and reasoning. That's how we have always managed to overcome our fears and make war on each other. What I didn't see, was any proof that the simulated violence in video games has resulted in any actual violence. Violence that would not have occured without the game. If the logic holds up that video games hold such sway over children, we should ban all the racing games so kids won't drive everywhere at 150 miles per hour. The only video games left would be pong and tetris. How damn boring is that? Some days SOCOM or San Andreas is perfect stress relief. Especially if the weather is bad and I can't go to the range.

Nov. 29, 2006, 12:38 a.m.Hey, I have two teenage boys and I have to tell you they didn't need to waste money on a study to get those findings. One is in miltary school and the other is in denial. Good luck you guys.

Nov. 29, 2006, 12:46 a.m.Violent video games might create an immunity to violence and numbs the senses to its repurcussions.
I would go for video games that are educational / intellectually challenging.

Nov. 29, 2006, 9:47 a.m.I think that while video games does dull you to violence because you see it all the time that's about it. I'm not going to go have sex with some hooker and then kill her and get my money back, because it's just a game.
Problems happen when kids don't realize that, but so long as you have parents that have taught you right from wrong it's not problem because you know and understand this.
All the goverment is looking for is a place to put the blame with out offending anyone by saying they're bad parents. Do they ever look at the pros of playing video games? No! Belive it or not but all video games stimilate your mind in some way or another, mindless violence aside. All games have puzzles which make you think in some way or another and it helps build motor skills. :)

Nov. 29, 2006, 10:16 a.m.its called, "getting into the game". when you play a so called "violent" game, you would tend to be more aggressive because that is your objective. stop over analyzing the situation. these people need to work on more important studies like curing deadly diseases.
the important part here is self control. video games influence people, just like movies or music. but remember: video games don't cause violence, movies don't cause violence, music doesn't cause violence; people cause violence.
instead of blaming entertainment media, blame yourselves for not teaching self control.
violent or not, video games aren't going to go away, get over it. its become a big part of our culture. i really hope these studies are privately funded!

Nov. 29, 2006, 10:57 a.m.the responsibility ultimately always lies with the individual. I am so tired of people saying its video games, or movies, or music, or novels. If someone murders, or commits a crime, and then blames it on a medium, its bs. Quit spending money on the stupid studies, it's a waste of money.

Nov. 29, 2006, 10:57 a.m.my wife teaches over 200 middle and lower income kids (6th and 7th grade) every day. she has noticed a very definite tendency for them to resolve conflicts with violence and aggression. many of her aggressive kids state that their favorite activity is playing violent games that involve killing to achieve an objective. you can't blame video games entirely though, just take a look at all violent movie titles and themes the next time you go to Hollywood video. its sickening. extreme violence has become entertainment and its beginning to rear its ugly head in alot of crime and social interactions we have with each other.

Nov. 29, 2006, 11:05 a.m.I am so sick of these reports. There are ratings on video games for a reason. Same as movies and music.

Nov. 29, 2006, 1:20 p.m.I think that violent video games such as San Andreas should be left for the 16 crowd. I believe that 13 is just too young for them to be part of games that have extreme violence and sexual content. As far as blaming the games for violent behavior that is bull. Killing on a game is not the same as taking a real life. In the games the character die immediately in real life it don't always work out that way. I think that it is up to the parents to teach their kids about the difference of what happens in a game and what happens in the real world. If a parent feels their child can't handle the games then don't buy it for them.
