Often we hear that some children are not allowed to play certain video games because the parents feel that they are too violent for them. It isn't very often that we hear about a country trying to keep a video game from its citizens.

Wondering if this'll rub off on any other countries? Not gonna happen in America though, that's for sure. If anything, more strict lables but that's already in place.

Meanwhile the U.K. is stripping it's citizens of firearms, setting up a national DNA census of sorts and taking away they're rights to privacy invoking tv surveillance camera's in it's streets. Now this.. I wonder in the midst of all this. How they keep failing to suppress, and contain the mindless mob violence of it's soccer, and rugby games though? Any theories anybody?

Oh yeah...we won't be able to play violent video games, the U.S. is also trying to strip its citizens of firearms, won't defend private land ownership, and if you're Christian you're not allowed to pray in public, but the athiests, Eastern religions, and cults can certainly teach your children their version of right from wrong.

But you won't have guns, won't have violent video games, the government can take your land any time they want, but the sex and violence on TV, especially during the hours when children can watch is appalling. The truth is your video games companies, TV networks, and Hollywood for the most part have NO morals of any kind, and they intend on inflicting it upon your children along with theirs.

There are many people in the U.S. that would love to see this enforced here. Many parents want the best atmosphere for there children. They do not want corrupt ideas and views passed to there children threw T.V. and Video Games. I agree, and do not think this will ever be enforced in the United States. I do not think the U.K. will take this game if it is re-edited.

I was the TV and video game Nazi I guess but my children weren't allowed to see the television shows and movies that were quite obviously had no moral value or flaunted the lack of it.

When they grew older each one of them did thank me.

One of them commented to her boyfriend that we didn't have rules in my house, we had "expectations" instead. I expected her to be home by 10 or 11 at the latest with a phone call to dad, I expected her to be a lady and he to be a gentleman, and her girlfriends knew better than to try to get her to do something so obviously illegal that she'd be in trouble with the law, not just at home. If they did she'd drop them from her circle of friends like a dirty shirt to the laundry. She was very sweet though, even to younger children, and drew them like flies to honey.

Children need rules and boundaries until they are old enough to decide on their own. In fact it actually gives them an OUT with the peer pressure from their friends.

It should always be a parent's responsibility, not the government's.

A lot of parents have no idea or don't care what their kids

            are doing.

I agree that it should be the parents responsibility, not the governments. But even with that, I think there are some things that shouldnt go in a video game. I dont think that things like "execution style killings", rape, drug use or things like that have any merit in a game of any kind.

But if I saw one that had it, I wouldnt let my child buy it or play it. That is my choice as a parent in my opinion.

If you're child is too cannot realize that copying what he does in video games is bad/stupid/ridiculous/harmful than that child is really really stupid.

Although as far as I know there hasnt been a real link found between violent video games and child violence, it isnt really a matter of the child copying what they see in the game - its a matter of them thinking that kind of behavior is acceptable in general.

Look at curse words - 20 years ago, a lot of what is said on TV absolutely wouldn't have been allowed back then. But slowly people accepted it, and now its "main stream". Whether that is good or bad Ill leave to your judgement. I don't think its a good thing.

This shows the different attitudes between Europe and America. Had this game been full of Sex, the game would be banned here. Just look at GTA SA. It should start some dialogue in this country about which is worse violence or sex. Personally I think that all of the violence is what is bringing this country down. Sex is everywhere in Europe, and their kids grow up fine if not better than us. Nudity is at the beach, on billboards, on TV. Just look at our laughable reaction to Janet Jackson. Maybe we should take a lesson from Europe and quit advocating violence.

Here's the thing, recently we've become so desensitized with sex, violence and drugs, many people don't realize how saturated our media gets with it. And the funny thing is, whenever we attempt maturing up something like video games, violence is always put into it.

But you know kids are going to want what 'the big kids' want regardless of content. It's easy to blame the parents because we've this philosophy they have to take responsibility for what they expose their children to. However, I feel it's equally the media's as well, since we do need to stop advocating violence as a medium for acceptable behaviour and entertainment.

Does that mean I want the government to step in and censor life? No, because I feel the key thing is we need to start taking responsibility for our actions and stop blaming other factions like video games and the media.

Because until we stop playing the blame game, nothing's ever going to improve.

Meanwhile, U.S. churches actively promote a violent video game that's all about murdering the unbelievers.

                      I can't say that I'm an expert on this,but I think that

there are a lot of people who when they participate in

this type of video game get to the point where they

can't draw the line between fantasy and reality.I'm not

saying that everyone eventually is going to decide to

try a "real-life" enactment of their favorite video game,

but I have heard of cases where persons who went on a violent rampage also participated heavily in playing violent vid games.I'm aware that the same could be said for violence in movies and television shows and even in literature.I think a lot of what happens depends on an individual's frame

                      of mind.

Britain is turning into a pile of crap. No guns, about to ban knives, crappy food, CCTV everywhere, and now no video games. LOL! Britain should be called Sissy.

I have an idea. How about parents take responsibility for raising their kids. They could monitor video games and what their kids watch on tv and everything. I mean, I know that this is a radical idea and all. But I have a feeling that this personal responsibility thing might just work out. Wadda ya think?
